We interrupt this hiatus for an important message:
If you've been asleep or in a cave for the past few months you may have missed a few important developments.
First: Barack Obama is president and there is a new game in town.
Second: Tennessee Republicans have taken over the legislature and there's a new game in town.
If we want the first to succeed -- and it's vital to Progressives that President Obama succeeds -- then we have to change the second, which brings us to a third important development: Chip Forrester is the new head of Tennessee's Democratic Party.
Chip is unlike anyone we've seen running the Tennessee Democratic Party in recent years. He's Progressive, he's energetic and he's determined NOT to run business as usual. He's a "bottom up" kinda guy who believes the people, not the leadership, should be guiding the process.
Like President Obama, Chip has hit the ground running and impressed many people with his leadership style. The problem is, the old guard doesn't like it much.
Which is why we need to "Chip In" now. The old guard doesn't believe Progressives like Chip can raise the kind of money needed in today's election environment. We want to prove them wrong.
That's why today Progressive bloggers around Tennessee are making a push to put $1,000 in the party's hands courtesy of the NetRoots. A grand ain't much, you say? Well, today is all about the message, so it's vital that we have LOTS of donations. Can you spare five bucks? Toss it into the hat. We need hundreds -- if not thousands -- of grassroots supporters to show that we've got Chip's back and we want change.
So follow this link and make a donation. Give a little or give a lot. You can be assured the money will be put to good use.
Chip has a lot of work to do and he'll be much more powerful if he has the power of Tennessee's Progressives behind him. Take a moment to invest in a better future for Tennessee.
Chip in for Chip!

A few things: Chip Forrester has been a part of the Tennessee Democrat power structure for a quarter century. He's been on the executive committee, passing resolutions supporting an income tax and stealing a legitimate election from Rosalind Kurita. Forrester is nothing new. His claims of being a "bottom up" leader are laughable.
You say your money will go to good use. It will go to pay Forrester's salary, which is $120,000 a year. Does that sound like a "bottom up" leader?
