Have you no shame, Senator Corker?
In today’s Tennessean, the freshman Senator accuses the AMA and other physician groups of "a breach of trust" for calling him out on his partisan warfare against Democrats in Congress at the expense of Tennessee doctors and patients.
This is a disgusting display of hypocrisy. The breach of trust is yours, Senator.
It’s also incredibly stupid. If Senator Corker wants to put his honesty and integrity up against the AMA and AARP, he’s only going to make himself look like (…what was it that Bill Frist’s staff called him? oh yeah…) “pond scum” by comparison.
Senators Alexander and Corker get one more chance to do the right thing today. Will they side with Tennessee doctors and patients – or will they continue to play partisan games with people’s healthcare?
If either of them has grown a spine (or a conscience) in the past week, they’ll vote to block pay cuts to local doctors who care for Medicare patients, including the elderly and military families. The issue is so plain and clear that even the Bush White House is bending over backwards to stop the harm that Republicans in Congress are trying to do.
