Whatever incentives Tennessee offered to Nissan to get the company to relocate its corporate headquarters to the state will be worth the investment if we get a new electric car and recharging network being talked up by the company.
The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gov. Phil Bredesen to work with the Tennessee Valley Authority to develop the cars and a charging system.
This is a great example of how business and government can work together to benefit one another. Nissan gets support in moving its headquarters and the public gets a more environmentally friendly car. TVA also gets the chance to pioneer a support system that could make electric cars practical.
Kudos to Nissan and Bredesen on this exciting step in Tennessee's future.
