Dear Tennessee Republicans,
Remember how excited you were about Fred Thompson? Did you write a check to the campaign? How did that turn out for you? Do you feel a little ripped off?
If you enjoy that feeling, please donate to John McCain.
McDole & Co. spent $16 million on advertising in June, compared to $5 million for Barack Obama. What did the very senior Senator get for his money? A huge ad blitz in 11 states! Woohoo! How many of those states did his poll numbers go up in? One.
One lousy state. His poll numbers actually plummeted in 9 of the 11. To call that a flop is generous.
But, hey, McDole needs you to be generous right now. For the month of June, McDole raised $21.5 million -- and spent $27 million -- for a $5+ million deficit.* So please, please send him more of your hard-earned cash right now! Remember, he can’t waste it if you don’t sent it! How else are those worthless ads going to stay on the air?
Tennesseans contributed just $521,109 to McDole’s total haul last month. Come on, guys, you’d have to pitch in 10 times that much just for McDole to break even! So go ahead. Crack open those checkbooks. It’s what Fred Thompson would do. Eventually. You know, once he woke up and stuff.
Okay, maybe I’m being a little harsh. Just because McDole has squandered all the time and money he’s been given so far -- and just because he’s done it time and time again with absolute nothing to show for it -- is no reason to suspect that’s what will happen this time. I mean, that’s not the very definition of insanity, right?
So contribute now! It’s money well wasted.
Obama, by the way, raked in $52 million last month. He spent $25.6 million. That leaves him with a $26.4 million surplus for June (more than McDole raised all month).
