Hobbs to the rescue

Just as we lamented the fact that Robin Smith is still a member of Tennessee's Human Rights Commission, Bill Hobbs, TNGOP's mouthpiece, stepped up with a prime example of why she should go.

Hobbs is out this morning joining the Republican drum beat that suggests Barack Obama has ties to terrorists. This time Hobbs tries to link Obama to Colombia's FARC citing sources who say, now brace yourselves, that Obama's name was mentioned on one of the group's computers in an analysis of our upcoming elections.

Horrors! I suppose that now that I've mentioned Hobb's name here, he officially is a Progressive. Time to resign Bill, Progressives have no place on the GOP payroll.

Perhaps in his new role he can mention that John McCain spent five years consorting with communists. OK, he was a prisoner of war at the time, but the link is still there. Questions must be asked! Could McCain be the Manchurian Candidate?

Suggesting McCain has ties to communism is as ridiculous as suggesting Obama has links to terrorists. These clownish activities, condoned by Smith as head of the party, demonstrate why she should be replaced by someone with the integrity to rise above this crass level of discourse.

It's no wonder people lose faith in their leaders and their government when trash like this is held up as proper debate in a presidential campaign.

Sending Smith packing is a good way to show we don't accept bigotry in government, especially from those whose responsibility it is to promote fairness.
