Senator Lamar! Alexander only leads his Democratic challenger by one point!!! …okay, that’s just among voters age 18-29. As the Nashville Post points out, that’s not likely to cost Sen. Alexander the election. However, it should be scary as heck to the Tennessee Republican Party.
We live in a fairly red Southern state, and it seems young voters are just as likely to pick a Democrat they’ve probably never heard of over a Tennessee institution like Alexander. Looks like if your political memory is pretty much limited to Clinton as the Democrat and Bush as the Republican, the GOP brand is in serious decline. (Go figure.)
Demographically speaking, progressives have every reason to be optimistic about the future.
