Today's the filing deadline for Metro school board and the good news is that Eric Crafton won't be in the race for the District 9 seat held by Marsha Warden. Warden herself says she won't run for another term.
That means it's a whole new ballgame in that area. The CityPaper lists potential candidates as Paul Brenner, a retired teacher; Alan Coverstone, a Montgomery Bell Academy administrator and public school parent; James Lech, a city planner and recent Vanderbilt University doctorate of education graduate; and Lee Limbird, a Meharry Medical College vice president. The deadline for filing is noon today.
In the end, it's unlikely the board will change too much, but the fact that Crafton's out of the race means our students still have a fighting chance for a decent education.

This should be no surprise. Once again, Crafton gets some free press associating himself with public education without lifting a finger to do anything to help.
