What the Headline Should Have Been...
"Crafton Wastes Council's Time and Press' Ink"
Jim already posted about this, but I've got more to offer.
Crafton is proposing a resolution that supports term limits for the School Board. So what? Crafton could propose a resolution that supports naming him King and it would carry as much weight. It's a campaign ploy that's keeping his name publicly associated with the school board while he considers a run. Most candidates have to do things like fund opinion polls to float their campaign strategies. Crafton, however, gets to take advantage of a media that, frankly, seems quite content to act as his press secretary instead of showing some journalistic reliability.
Neither the City Paper nor WSMV's morning coverage mentioned that the resolution carries no weight and compels no action. That's the story: that the mainstream media reported a candidate's press release as though it was policy.
The City Paper also misreported that Warden has served two terms. She has not, but I'm sure Crafton would love the perception that Warden has been around longer than she has.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not defending Warden...she need to go too.
