Fred Thompson ends his presidential campaign the exact same way he ran it: the most lazy way possible. No rally. No speech. No need to get off the couch. Just this minimalist statement by email:
"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."
Wow. I would be so pissed off if I had wasted one penny or one second of time supporting this guy.
