Rasmussen has a new poll of just the 20 states (including Tennessee) that go to the polls on February 5. With such a large pool of states, it’s no surprise that it closely reflects the national polling:
Clinton |
41 |
|---|---|
| Obama | 23 |
| Edwards | 14 |
| Richardson | 5 |
| Biden | 3 |
| Giuliani | 27 |
| Huckabee | 14 |
| Thompson | 14 |
| McCain | 11 |
| Romney | 10 |
| Paul | 4 |
Tennessee jumped up to Feb. 5 to increase our power in the primaries, but we quickly got drowned out by California, New York, Georgia, Missouri, and other larger or more pivotal states. So once again we get ignored.
Ironically, it may be the later states, at least on the Republican side, that become critically important if Romney sweeps all the early/small states while Rudy keeps pace in the delegate count with a handful of big ones. As it stands now, Tennessee Republicans will waste their votes giving Thompson his one and only state before he drops out. It’d be nice to see some Democrats fighting for our votes around here – but I can’t fault their campaign strategists for putting us very low on the list.
