After six terms in the Tennessee House of Representatives, State Rep. John Hood (D-Murfreesboro) is calling it quits according to the Tennessean. And if Volunteer Voters is right, the Democrats will have a very tough time holding onto his seat.
Apparently, state GOP insider Lance Frizzell wants to run. Frizzell’s long resume includes: 1) Iraq War veteran, 2) Deputy Chief of Staff to Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, 3) Communications Director for Bryson for Governor campaign, 4) belligerent blogger, 5) House Republican Caucus Press Secretary, and 6) Tennessee Republican Party Political and Legislative Director.
The Democrats currently hold the state House with a 53-46 majority, which doesn’t leave a lot of breathing room. The Democratic candidate in this district will need our full support.

PS: On his blog before the 2006 election, Frizzell predicted, “nationally, they [Democrats] will have their clocks cleaned for them this fall.” Hopefully, his reading of the political landscape in Murfreesboro is just as far wrong…
